Two armed robbers were arrested at 11pm on Thursday night in the upmarket suburb of Atholl after they shot a construction worker three times to steal his cellphone.
CSS Tactical officer Oscar Tshabalala got the radio call to watch out for two suspects running up Central Avenue while he was having dinner.
“Not even a second later I turned around and saw the two men running up the road towards me,” he said.
One wore leather sandals and the other a pink-spotted hat. When Tshabalala approached the men and asked why they were running, one drew a 9mm pistol from his trousers, but it slipped from his grip and fell to the pavement. Tshabalala drew his gun and apprehended the suspects until police arrived.
“I’m seriously lucky he didn’t shoot me,” he said.
The serial number of the gun was filed off, indicating that it was a stolen weapon.
The construction worker was rushed to hospital.
His condition was unknown on Friday morning.
Police believe the two suspects are part of a gang of four, with the other two still at large. - The Star

I was taught when I was a cadet in the UK almost 10 years ago, that if someone has a weapon that is drawn or being drawn and they are running towards you. You shoot to killdisable, then find out the reason. Your life is not something to throw away because of the possibility of being shot. Rather shoot and protect yourself than be carried away in a bag yourself. If someone were to draw a gun and I did not know them and they were in my property, or running to me or by my car, I'm going to shoot them dead, I don't care their reasons, if the gun is empty, then they shouldn't be playing with one, if it's their joke, then tough luck. You play with a deadly weapon, expect a deadly response.

Which part of the shoot to kill memo did Tactical not understand?

And the Sunday Times journalists will report that the police are shooting to kill when we all are in fact sitting ducks for the criminals to mow down.

@ Magosi Magakwe. "Kak vraag! Sit skaap". They never gave the value of the 'phone. It's idiotic questions like that that will deter the Animal National Corruption from bringing back the death penalty. After all, it was just a human life at stake!

It's a waste of time arresting them. They will probably get bail of R2000 and will eventually walk off scot-free due to some technicality or missing docket. Our legal system is failing.

So again they got to shoot someone or injure someone, then they handsup and get treated and cushioned, always getting away with it. Then off to Jail to study and relax. No consequence regular meals better than they had and no stress of working hard. Hard labour I say!

And they'll get bail and be out within a few days. This is why I shoot first, especially if the guy tries to draw a firearm.

Aim for the head, shoot to kill, then ask the questions later.
