Johannesburg - The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has seized contraband worth about R4 million on the street along the country's borders, spokesman Siphiwe Dlamini said on Wednesday.

“Eight suspects were apprehended along the Mpumalanga border near Oranza and Oshoek with illegal goods on 25 and 26 May 2014,” he said in a statement.

“In their possession, the eight suspects had boxes of dagga (worth) over R38 000. The illegal goods are estimated to weigh 29kg.”

Dlamini said the goods - including dagga, alcohol and cigarettes - were seized between April and May.
