Durban - A Durban attorney is considering legal action against alleged fake lawyer and lingerie model, Stacey Naicker, who apparently used the attorney’s case number on her certificate when she sought admission as an attorney in the high court.

Drushantha Ramsamy said on Monday that she had been inundated with calls from the media after the Daily News reported about Naicker, a “brainy supermodel” who has been prevented from acting as an attorney after an urgent application by the KwaZulu-Natal Law Society.

Judge Sharmaine Balton granted an interim interdict against Naicker in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday.

“I don’t know her (Naicker) and I don’t know how she managed to get hold of my documents,” said Ramsamy, who was in Gauteng.

She said she would seek legal advice on whether to sue Naicker when she returned to KZN.

The Daily News reported on Monday that Naicker’s admissions certificate bore the same case number as Ramsamy, who was admitted as an attorney in the high court on the same date, June 7, 2013. Ramsamy said she had been informed by the KZN Law Society of its investigation “some time ago”. Her admissions certificate was legitimate.

According to the interim court order, Naicker must hand over all records and files relating to her Pinetown practice, Stacey Naicker and Associates (SNA), to the law society. Her trust and other accounts at First National Bank have also been frozen.

Naicker has until July 1 to oppose the interdict being made final.

It was reported that Naicker’s alleged fraud was discovered in January by officials from the Attorneys Fidelity Fund, who were concerned about Naicker’s “lack of knowledge of an attorney’s practice”.
