Johannesburg - A 19-year-old woman has been arrested after the body of a newborn baby was found in a dustbin in Orlando, Soweto, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
“The baby's body was discovered by rubbish collectors in Orlando East this morning (Thursday). She has been charged with concealment of birth, for now,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
Police were investigating whether the baby boy was alive when he was dumped, he said.
The teenager was expected to appear soon in the Orlando Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
