Cape Town – One of the men who allegedly killed six-month old Zahnia Woodward “laughed” after the baby was shot.

Grieving mom Cindy Woodward, 20, made the shocking revelation on Wednesday. The young mother said she has spoken to her boyfriend, Zahnia’s dad Bradley Robyn, who briefly told her what happened during the shooting on Friday afternoon in Ocean View.

Little Zahnia was shot through the head while Bradley, 24, was shot through the upper thigh.

Bradley was holding the baby on his lap when five men in a white VW Golf shot at them and three friends in the drive-by shooting. They were waiting at a bus stop for Cindy to come home from work.

Police have arrested one man in connection with the incident. On Tuesday, Hout Bay resident Christopher September, 31, appeared in court accused of murder and attempted murder.

According to Cindy, September laughed after her child was shot. “There was no remorse for what he did. Brad said he laughed as they drove away. Laughed after ripping out my heart,” she said.

September is back in court next week for bail information.

Meanwhile, Cindy has slammed media reports claiming her boyfriend was a gangster and a drug dealer. Several media houses on Tuesday claimed the bullet that killed the tiny baby was meant for Bradley.

But Cindy said Bradley was not a gangster or merchant, “and that people were welcome to come and check his body for gang tattoos”.

Responding to the allegations on Facebook on Tuesday night, she said: “f***!! When did anyone ever say the bullet was meant for her father?! Oh my god! From this point on I refuse to speak to you. How dare you publish such rubbish?! It’s killing that man that he has to deal with this and you guys spread lies like this? U just messed me up completely! Leave me alone as you are liars!”

Cindy said the shooters were targeting an alleged merchant on the other side of the road and that her berk and child had been caught in the crossfire.

Bradley was discharged from hospital on Tuesday, but Cindy said he has “completely withdrawn” from the world as he tries to deal with the death of his only child.

“The lies people are spreading are upsetting and we do not need this now,” the young mother said.

“We have to focus on him healing from his wound, the loss of our child is something we will never get over, but we will not let lies rule our lives.

“We still have our child to bury and right now the support of our families is all that matters to me.”

Cindy has vowed not to rest until her child’s killers have been brought to book. On Tuesday, she nearly physically attacked September, after he brazenly stared her down. A court orderly had to hold back the mom who afterwards burst into tears.

She said: “I will make sure he gets his punishment. Him and the other four from Hout Bay who must still get caught.”

Cindy added that they are still waiting on Zahnia’s body to be released from the morgue in Salt River.

“People are saying I am too patient, but there are lots of people who are waiting for family members to be released.

“I am hoping to receive her body before 12 on Friday, then we can lay her to rest on Saturday, otherwise it will be on Monday,” said the grieving mother.
