Johannesburg - A swearing match between a local beauty queen and an infamous bad boy has landed in court with charges of assault and protection orders obtained by both parties.

Former boxers Mark Strydom and Mikey Schultz, who is the self-confessed murderer of Brett Kebble, appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Germiston on Monday on charges of assault.

They have been involved in a war of words with current Mrs Universe SA Juanita Mitchell, the wife of Brian Mitchell, a former world featherweight boxing champion.

Mrs Mitchell laid charges of assault against Strydom and Schultz and obtained an interdict against them to keep them from coming near her.

In Mitchell’s version of events, Strydom and Schultz confronted her, swore at her and spat in her face. Mitchell gave The Star an interview with her full version of events, but later retracted permission for it to be published.

Her reason for laying the charges were that numerous women in the south of Joburg were scared, and she believed that in laying charges she would be setting an example for others not to be intimidated or afraid of the pair.

Saleem Ebrahim, Strydom and Schultz’s lawyer, said they in turn had obtained an interdict against Mitchell.

Strydom said he and Mitchell became friends on Facebook and began chatting.

Strydom said in his affidavit that he met Brian, Juanita’s husband, at a bar and told him that he and Juanita communicated on Facebook.

“Brian became agitated and demanded that Juanita and the first applicant (Strydom) stop communicating right away,” the affidavit said.

Strydom said that in December 2012, he and friends visited the Aroma Coffee shop in the Glenvista shopping centre.

He added that Mitchell and a friend, Samantha Simpson, walked in, and as a waiter was asking where they wanted to sit, Mitchell “in a loud manner said ‘nowhere near this f***ing rubbish’.”

Strydom said he asked “who are you calling f***ing rubbish?”

In Mitchell’s version it was Strydom who swore at her first.

In March, at the Harbour Fish and Grill Restaurant in Meyersdal, another incident took place. When walking into the restaurant, Strydom said he heard someone say ‘here comes the f***ing muscle man’.

Strydom said he decided to leave, and as he was walking out, he asked Mitchell what the purpose of her comment was.

“She then became aggressive and said ‘f*** off to jail where you belong’. Schultz then came into the restaurant and joined the argument.

The case has been postponed to later this month for further investigation.
