Durban - An 18-year-old is the sixth person to appear in connection with the murder of Desiree Murugan, whose headless body was found in Shallcross last week.
Falakhe Khumalo appeared briefly in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, and is expected to appear again on Monday with his five co-accused, Sibonakaliso Mbili, 32, Vusumuzi Gumede, 30, and three minors.
The five, who were arrested by the Chatsworth serious and violent crimes task team last week, appeared in court on Monday
All are accused of killing the 39-year-old mother of one whose body was found by municipal maintenance staff at the Shallcross Stadium. Murugan’s head was found in the Imfume area of the South Coast on Friday.
It is alleged that Murugan was a prostitute and was lured to the stadium by one of the accused.
Among the accused is a traditional healer. Murugan’s killing is believed to be muti-related.
The accused are expected to apply for bail on September 1.
