Johannesburg - A group of motorcyclists arrived at the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Monday where a man who allegedly shot dead a motorcyclist in an apparent road rage confrontation is expected to appear.

The bikers said they belonged to the Bikers Against e-tolls and came to support the family of a fellow motorcyclist.

The alleged killer, who is in his forties, was arrested on Friday after he allegedly got into an argument with 39-year-old biker Douglas Pierce while they were both travelling on Malibongwe Drive.

According to police Lieutenant-Colonel Katlego Mogale, the two pulled off the road and continued their confrontation during which the motorist was injured and the biker shot dead. Firearms recovered from both men were sent for ballistic testing.

The motorist was also treated for head injuries in hospital under police guard. - Sapa
