Bloemfontein – An 18-year-old student was shot dead during an alleged armed robbery in Universitas in Bloemfontein on Saturday night, paramedics said.
Paramedics from ER24 and the local emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on the scene where they found the lifeless body of the student lying in the street, ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.
“Bystanders explained to paramedics that an armed robbery apparently took place at the house where the student was staying. He ran from his house after he was shot and collapsed in the street.
“Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on [the] scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated [by police],” Vermaak said.
