Cape Town - A woman spent Valentine’s Day fighting for her life after being stabbed, allegedly by her lover’s jealous girlfriend.

Lulu Noshe, 30, was stabbed in the face and neck with a broken bottle.

The attack happened in Marcus Garvey informal settlement in Philippi in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman for the attack.

According to family, Noshe went to her neighbour’s house on Saturday night and slept over.

The 32-year-old suspect then came in and found the pair in bed.

While the woman attacked Noshe, the man ran away.

Noshe’s cousin Veliswa Makhunda said: “Lulu was sleeping when a woman came in and attacked her.

“She repeatedly stabbed her in the neck and face.

“We picked up some pieces of her flesh from the spot, and took it to the police station.

“She is lying in hospital, and her face has been deformed by the stab wounds.”

Community worker Nowethu Sawutana added: “It’s such a bad thing to witness a woman attacking another woman, and on Valentine’s Day.

“This man is new in our community, he had a relationship with the suspect.

“That is why when she found him with another woman he ran away.”

Captain FC van Wyk said the suspect is due to appear in the Philippi Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of attempted murder.
