Johannesburg - Nelson Mandela bridge in Braamfontein was closed to traffic on Thursday afternoon following a bomb scare, the Johannesburg metro police department said.
“The bridge has been completely blocked off,” Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
They were alerted shortly after 4.30pm. Motorists could use Biccard Street or drive through Fordsburg while police searched the bridge.
