Johannesburg - A nightclub bouncer appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.

Owkuchukwu Joshau Nwairo, a Nigerian national, is accused of stabbing Shane Boruchowitz to death at the popular Ty’s night club on Thursday.

Dressed in a black suit, white shirt and black tie, the burly and bearded Nwairo told the court he would use a Legal Aid attorney.

The court heard on Monday that an identity parade was to be scheduled.

Seemingly anxious, Nwairo attempted to speak to a friend in the gallery during the court proceedings.

It is alleged that Boruchowitz, 23, was stabbed twice in the chest while attempting to stop a fight between friends and bouncers at the club.

He had been attending a party at the club with his brother and a friend.

The matter was postponed to Monday for a bail application and to check if the accused had any pending charges or convictions.
