Rustenburg - A 25-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend in Lethabong near Rustenburg, North West police said on Monday.  "It is alleged that the couple were at one of the taverns in Lethabong village near Rustenburg when they had an argument that led to a fatal stabbing of the victim by the suspect. The suspect then put the victim inside the vehicle and drove to Rustenburg Police Station where he reported the incident," said Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.

He said the 38-year-old man handed himself to the police in Rustenburg in the early hours of Sunday.

"It is alleged that the suspect arrived at Rustenburg police station and informed the police that he had come to hand himself over for the murder of his girlfriend. The suspect then took the police to his vehicle that was parked inside the police station premises," Mokgwabone said.

"Upon arrival at the vehicle, a woman was found lying inside the vehicle with what looked like a stab wound on her back. The emergency medical response service personnel were called and they declared the woman dead."

The man was expected to appear in the Bafokeng Magistrate's Court in Tlhabane near Rustenburg on Tuesday, facing a charge of murder.
