Brothers shot in botched car deal

Durban - A car deal that allegedly turned sour has left a Phoenix man fighting for his life and his brother with gunshot wounds to his back.

Mathew Naidoo and his elder brother, Mason, were shot at about midday on Saturday while travelling on the Phoenix Highway.

Their other brother, Loganathan “Andrew” Naidoo, who was also in the car, escaped unscathed.

A 40-year-old man handed handed himself over to police half an hour after the shooting.

Police spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said the suspect in the matter was facing a charge of attempted murder.

It is alleged that shooting was triggered after a car deal went sour.

The Daily News visited the Naidoo residence on Monday.

Loganathan Naidoo declined to speak about the shooting.

“We are concerned about our brother (Mathew), who is in a critical condition. He has undergone surgery already and is due for another procedure later today.

“Our family do not want to speak to the media about the incident just yet,” he said.

Mason, his brother who suffered gunshot wounds to his back, lifted his shirt and revealed his injuries, which had been dressed at a hospital.
