Johannesburg - The Johannesburg Magistrates' Court on Wednesday postponed the case of man who allegedly killed the mother of his two children, stating that he was still on the waiting list to be admitted for psychiatric evaluation.

Sibongiseni Patrick Zondi is accused of stabbing Nonhle Chairmane Mbonambi 20 times at the Summit club in Hillbrow where she worked as a waitress.

The 42-year-old Zondi allegedly went to the club on December 27, 2016, an hour before Mbonambi was due to start her shift.

He allegedly sat and waited for her and when she came in, he went to her; stabbed her and also slit her throat.

According to family members of Mbonambi, the relationship between Zondi and the 24-year-old mother-of-two had always been volatile until she decided to break up with the him.

Mbonambi's family, from Stanger in KwaZulu-Natal, said they were not pleased with the court process, claiming that since the matter had started, it had always been postponed for different reasons.

"We are saddened that the matter is dragging. Since we started January, they have always been postponing," said Nonhle's aunt, Lindiwe Mbonambi at an earlier appearance.

The accused was remanded and the matter postponed to August 30.
