Centane - Charges against 67 men arrested for crimes related to a three-year-long feud were withdrawn in the Centane Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, Eastern Cape police said.

They had faced charges of murder, attempted murder and public violence, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

Four others who were arrested with them on Tuesday were charged with murder and kept in police custody.

Their bail application would take place on Monday.

Mkhubelo Bhenya, 60, Sibusiso Makhikh, 27, Demfu Sibango, 73, and Rhaxaza Mchobololo, 48 are accused of assaulting and killing Thabelane Sipili, 28, on January 5.

Manatha said residents of the Mrhawuzeli and Mthonjeni locations started fighting three years ago, apparently about land. The four are from the Mthonjeni location. - Sapa
