Eastern Cape - An eight-year-old child died and 13 others were seriously injured when a school bus overturned on its way to Palmietfontein on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said.

The driver of the bus carrying schoolchildren from Winterberg Primary School, near Tarkastad, lost control of the vehicle, said Warrant Officer Elmarie Van Eck.

The particulars of the dead child were still unknown, she said.
