Clothing shop burns down in PE

A clothing shop burnt down in Despatch near Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

Lt-Col Priscilla Naidu said the store was set alight during the early hours of Saturday.

“According to police information, a security company responded to an alarm at Style City around 4am. When they arrived at the shop, they noticed that the front door padlocks were broken and an axe was found nearby.

“The entire shop and its contents were completely destroyed. The estimated damage and losses are R700,000.”

She said police were investigating a case of housebreaking and arson. No arrests have been made. - Sapa
