Durban - A construction worker was killed, allegedly after he was pushed from a high-rise building where he was working, on Durban's Berea, on Thursday morning.

The incident took place at 220 Currie Road about 8am.

According to a well-placed source, the man had become involved in an argument with a co-worker.

The cause of the argument was not known, but it became heated and culminated in his being pushed from the sixth floor. Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson said when paramedics arrived the man had already died.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane confirmed the 25-year-old man’s death and said his 19-year-old co-worker, who had allegedly pushed him, had been arrested on a charge of murder.

Berea police were investigating and the accused would appear in court soon, Zwane said.
