Cop gets bail in bomb threat case

A senior Johannesburg police officer accused of making bomb threats and intimidating other officers was released on R10,000 bail by the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court, Gauteng police said on Friday.

“He (Maj-Gen Michael Mohlala) applied for an urgent bail application yesterday (Thursday) and was released,” said Lt-Col Tshisikhawe Ndou.

Police say that while the Klerksdorp businessman has opened a case of robbery, the men who allegedly attacked and robbed him are unknown and remain at large.

“It's unclear at this point when the case was postponed to.”

The court was unable to provide a date, or further information.

The city's cluster commander was arrested in the Vaal Triangle last week. -
