A policeman has been killed in a shoot-out in Ngqeleni, near Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.
Major Ernest Sigobe said six armed men opened fire when police approached them on Wednesday afternoon.
“A shoot-out ensued and Warrant Officer Mawethu Nelson Siganga was shot dead, as well as one of the armed men,” he said.
Two men were arrested and would appear soon in the Ngqeleni Magistrate's Court.
