Johannesburg - A police constable and another man were arrested for allegedly raping a teenager in Vosloorus, Gauteng, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said on Wednesday.
The two were arrested on Tuesday, Ipid spokesman Moses Dlamini said.
The 19-year-old teenager was walking with her boyfriend in Vosloorus on Saturday when a VW Polo stopped next to them and the occupants held them up at gunpoint.
The men demanded the couple's cellphones. They told the boyfriend to leave and forced the woman into the car.
“After stopping in an open field, the victim was allegedly raped by the civilian in the back of the vehicle while the policeman pointed [at] her with a firearm, after which the policeman raped her as well,” Dlamini said.
After the rape, they dropped her off at a taxi rank. The woman remembered the car's registration number and reported the matter to police. The men were expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. - Sapa
