A policeman facing fraud and corruption charges will go on trial in July in the Bellville Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Cape Town.

Thuso Mapheele allegedly issued police clearance certificates for two vehicles without first examining them.

On Thursday, Magistrate Amrith Chabillal scheduled Mapheele's trial for July 17.

He is alleged to have received a R1000 bribe at a petrol station in Bonteheuwel on the Cape Flats, in September 2009.

The next day he is alleged to have issued clearance certificates for a Nissan Sentra and a Volkswagen Microbus. - Sapa
