The Congress of the People on Tuesday urged police to find those responsible for the house-breaking and robbery at Constitutional Court judge Sisi Khampepe's home.

“Cope extends its heartfelt sympathy to the Khampepe family and demand the department of justice to act speedily in ensuring the safety of our justices, judges and judge presidents,” party leader Mosiuoa Lekota said in a statement.

The party called for anyone with information to contact the police.

Khampepe was robbed in her Randburg home on Monday morning.

Lt-Col Tshisikhawe Ndou said the judge and her family were asleep when two armed men gained entry by breaking a window, and tied them to their beds.

The robbers ransacked the house and made off with jewellery, a laptop, and two cellphones. They fled in her car, Ndou said.

The judge and her family managed to untie themselves and alerted the police. The car was later found abandoned in Tembisa. - Sapa
