A drug-manufacturing laboratory with enough chemicals to produce cat (methcathinone) with a street value of R1 million was raided in Germiston on Tuesday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

“The discovery took place this morning around 11am where the police arrested two Nigerian nationals,” Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.

Officers raided the house in Tecoma Street, Wychwood where two Nigerian men were found processing chemicals outside a Wendy house on the premises.

“The two were immediately arrested and the property intensively searched for more evidence.”

Members of the forensic unit were fine-combing the yard, a car and the house to search for more evidence.

“Extensive investigations by the SAPS are envisaged with a view to making more arrests.”

The two men, in their late 30s, were expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
