Cops bust man with drugs worth R327 000

Rustenburg – A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs with an estimated street value of R327 000, North West police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the Nigerian man was arrested on Wednesday near Vryburg.

“According to information, the police approached a suspicious vehicle after it was seen stopping several times along the gravel road just outside Vryburg.

“When the driver saw the police, he allegedly ran into the bushes, but was successfully chased and apprehended. Upon arrest, he was found in possession of drugs, and that prompted the police to check around, including the soil along the gravel road as well as in the bushes,” she said.

The police found different types of drugs including KAT, crack cocaine and heroine hidden along the road, all with estimated street value of R327 000.

“The suspect is expected to appear in the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 20 May 2016,” she said.
