Five people were arrested in Joburg after drugs with a street value of around R100 million were found at their residences on Wednesday, police said.

Drug manufacturing equipment was seized in a raid on two laboratories in two Bryanston houses, said Colonel Vish Naidoo.

“A married couple was the first to be arrested in Bryanston, where the first R50 million worth of drugs were recovered,” he said.

Naidoo said the second bust was made in Douglasdale, where another couple was arrested along with their domestic worker.

“Another R50 million worth of drugs was recovered in the laboratory at the second home,” he said.

The bust came about as a result of an operation by the Crime Intelligence Unit. – Sapa
