The hunt was continuing on Monday for Johan Kotze – the man police accuse of orchestrating a gruesome assault on his estranged wife and the murder of his teenaged stepson.

“We have intensified our search to the borders by involving the Hawks and the crime intelligence service,” Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi of the Limpopo police said.

“The hunt is now on the heels of the man, but I cannot disclose further information as this might jeopardise the investigation.”

The 51-year-old Kotze reportedly forced three men, believed to be his workers, to assault his estranged wife at his Modimolle home last Tuesday.

According to news and police reports, Kotze also lured his 19-year-old stepson to the house and shot the youngster dead when he arrived.

Mulaudzi said Kotze's personal details indicate he was born in Namibia.

The Star newspaper reported on Monday that Interpol, the international police organisation, had also been asked to assist in the hunt for Kotze. – Sapa
