Hebron, North West, was being closely watched after protests on Thursday morning, police said.

Hundreds of residents barricaded Erasmus and Hebron road with burning tyres, stones and tree branches, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

They were apparently unhappy with the feedback received on Wednesday from Madibeng local municipality acting mayor Matshidiso Mangoathe, Mokgwabone said.

The feedback related to a memorandum the residents handed to the mayor last month about service delivery issues.

Mokgwabone said no damage had been reported but traffic had been affected.

“Motorists are requested to use Molefe Makinita Highway as an alternative road,” he said.
