Cops nab solar panel crooks

Johannesburg - Four men were arrested for being in possession of stolen solar panels as well iron sheets valued at R50 200 in the Free State, police said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Constable Kethabile Mofokeng said the men were arrested on Monday at their residence in Nyakallong, Allanridge.

“The four suspects Morisi Mothabe, 24, Mphetezele Themba, 32, Lesole Zim, 27 and Sanele Sumba from Mozambique, 30, appeared at Wesselsbron Magistrate’s Court on Monday, and their case was postponed to the 05 October 2015 for bail application,” Mofokeng said.

The police were tipped off by community members after two solar panels were stolen from Visagieskuil Farm in Wesselsbron on the 15 and 16 September.

Both incidents were reported to the Wesselsbron Police Station.

The police followed the information which led them to residences in Nyakallong.
