Rustenburg - Two men have been arrested for allegedly killing a woman at Silkaatsnek near Brits, North West police said on Sunday.

The pair, aged 25 and 35, were arrested on Thursday at Ten Rooms informal settlement after police received a tip-off about a person seen in possession of two cellphones suspected to belong to a woman murdered on Wednesday, Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said.

“According to information, one of the suspects was found in possession of the murdered woman's cellphones. It is alleged that upon questioning the suspect admitted involvement in the woman's murder. The second suspect was also traced, as it is alleged that he forms part of the criminal activity and was allegedly working for the victim as a garden man.”

The woman was attacked and repeatedly stabbed in the neck and chest with a sharp object at her house on a smallholding in Wag 'n Bietjie, Silkaatsnek, at Hartbeespoort Dam near Brits.

Her body was discovered by her daughters, aged four and 16, and a family friend who picked them up from school after she failed to arrive at the nursery school.

Her eldest daughter, aged 21, was at work.

The two men were expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Monday.
