Johannesburg - Police are investigating the murder of an elderly couple in their home in Boschkop, east of Pretoria.

“No one has been arrested yet, police have launched an investigation after collecting evidence at the scene,” spokeswoman Captain Marissa van der Merwe said on Sunday.

The elderly couple was found dead on their smallholding in Mooiplaats, Boschkop on Friday.

The couple's son, who was staying with them, left the house early for business on Friday, returned around 12.30pm and found his parents, Louis 80, and Sandra Swanepoel, 82, dead in the house.

Van der Merwe said the woman sustained a gunshot wound to the head, while the man had no visible injuries. Police found a gun in the study.

Nothing was stolen and there was no forced entry. - Sapa
