Beaufort West – A search operation conducted by Beaufort West police yielded a massive haul of mandrax tablets worth R10 million in the early hours of Sunday morning, Western Cape police said.

“The seizure of 200 000 mandrax tablets that were transported in a bakkie from Johannesburg to Cape Town led to the arrest of a 50-year-old male. He will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.

Provincial management commended the Beaufort West police for the good work. The seizure and arrest were believed to have made a major dent to the drug trade.

“We will continue with our efforts to rid the communities of drugs that destroy the nation,” Rwexana said.
