Durban - A special police task team has been set up to investigate the murder of a KwaZulu-Natal clinical psychologist and former academic who was shot by a man disguised in a wig, hat and apron.

Professor Humphrey Simphiwe Ngcobo, 47, died in hospital.

A week after he was gunned down as he was leaving a guesthouse in Mzingazi, Richards Bay, police are still searching for his killer.

Although the motive for the attack is unknown, police said they strongly suspected it was a hit.

“His car wasn’t stolen or any of his belongings,” said spokesman Inspector Mbongeni Mdlalose. - Independent on Saturday
