Hazyview - A couple was attacked by five men who thought they had rhino horn in their possession, an Mpumalanga DA councillor said on Wednesday.

The attack took place in their home on their game farm, north of Hazyview, near the Kruger National Park, Ken Robertson said.

“On Monday night two people were brutally attacked by no less than five men who were under the impression that they had rhino horn in safekeeping on their property.”

David Powrie was stabbed 12 times and his wife Loma twice. Both were in hospital.

David is the Lowveld representative of the Game Rangers Association of Africa.

Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala was unable to confirm the attack.
