A Port Elizabeth couple has been arrested after the rape of a 14-year-old girl, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.
Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said the 14-year-old girl and her nine-year-old brother were placed in the woman's custody six years ago.
“The school noticed that the girl was showing shows of abuse and contacted the family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit.”
After an investigation the couple, aged 38 and 37, from Rowallan Park, were arrested on Thursday and charged with rape. They were expected to appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Monday afternoon.
