Cape Town - A woman and a man were arrested on Tuesday after police entered their Cape Town home and discovered, what they termed, a dagga laboratory, with drugs worth an estimated half a million rand.
“At approximately 4:30am police entered a residence in Hamlet place, Tosca Crescent, in Durbanville where they found a fully equipped hydroponic dagga laboratory,” said Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk.
Durbanville police had received information of alleged drug-related activities at the suspects’ home in Sonstraal Heights and responded to it on Tuesday morning.
“Dagga plants of various sizes, a large amount of dried dagga and other substances, which are to be examined, together with a substantial amount of cash was seized,” said Van Wyk.
The dagga police seized had an estimated street value of R500 000.
Police arrested the two suspects – a 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman – and both suspects were due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court soon.
