Johannesburg - The case against a man arrested in connection with the murder of three-year-old Cuburné van Wyk will be held in-camera on Friday, a senior public prosecutor told reporters at the Boksburg Magistrate's Court.
Media were not allowed inside the courtroom where the accused was appearing for the first time, and a court order to that effect would be issued, said the prosecutor, who declined to be named.
The order stated that no photographs were to be taken of the accused, and that he could not be identified.
His name would not even be on the court roll.
This was because certain witnesses still had to identify the accused in an identity parade and for this reason his identity could not be disclosed, he said.
If media or family members of the victim entered the courtroom, they would be told to leave.
The accused was arrested in Germiston on Wednesday by metro police officers.
Van Wyk's body was discovered on Saturday by a passer-by at a mine dump in Reiger Park.
Police said he died as a result of multiple head injuries and burn wounds.
He disappeared on August 6 while he was playing outside with his siblings. - Sapa
