Rustenburg - A 26-year-old man accused of beating his four-year-old daughter with a belt, on Thursday pleaded guilty at the Bafokeng Magistrate's Court in Tlhabane on Thursday.
In his guilty plea, Isaiah Maotwe, told the court on November 8, 2016, he was in Ikageng near Rustenburg, when he found his daughter and her mother asleep.
"I woke up her mother, we had an argument. The child also woke up and I ordered her to sleep but she refuses. I then beat her with a belt," he told the court through an affidavit read by his legal representative.
He is facing a charge of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.
The case against him was postponed to August 22 for a pre-sentence report, while his bail was extended.
