Johannesburg - A father and his two sons were arrested in Lenasia after a man died in the boot of their car, Soweto police said on Tuesday.

The man died after they took him to a police station on Monday night, Soweto police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

“Three suspects were in a shebeen in Lenasia where they had a fight with the victim,” he said.

The victim allegedly had a knife.

“They beat him up, put him into the boot of their car and drove to the police station where they were taking him to hand over to the police.”

When the suspects returned to their car from the charge office the man had died.

“We had no option but to arrest them for murder. They are going to appear before the Protea Magistrate's Court within 48 hours,” he said.

The father is 62 and his sons 28 and 24.
