Johannesburg - A 71-year-old woman was arrested at Zazulwana Village, Butterworth, on Sunday for allegedly growing dagga plants in her garden, Eastern Cape police said.

“The elderly suspect was arrested as her garden was full of dagga instead of maize,” Captain Jackson Manatha said.

Police uprooted the plants, which had a combined weight of 68kg and a street value of about R20 000.

The woman would appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday to face charges of dealing in dagga. - Sapa
