Comment on this story

Johannesburg - Dagga plants were removed in three different areas of Katlehong on the East Rand on Thursday, according to Ekurhuleni metro police.

The plants were removed during a joint operation called “Operation Insango” (Operation Dagga) by metro police, the South African Police Service and community patrollers, said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

“Three bushy areas... equivalent to a football field in size... around Hattingh bridge in Hlongawne section, as well as at the Kwesine hostel premises, were targeted,” said Kgasago.

He said uprooted dagga was loaded into two 10-ton trucks.

No arrests had been made yet. - Sapa
