Port Elizabeth -

Anyone hoping to smoke an illegal marijuana joint in Port Elizabeth this Christmas may struggle to find supplies after police operations this weekend.

Three dagga trees and two “bompies” (bags) of the drug were confiscated in the area, said Motherwell police spokesman, Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu.

He said one man was arrested for possession of dagga and another two for possession of Mandrax.

Forty-five people were arrested for being drunk and disorderly in public and 10 were arrested for drunken driving.

Other weekend arrests were for various kinds of theft, assault, domestic violence, rape and for pointing a firearm.
