Johannesburg -

A man has been arrested in Orlando West, Soweto, for allegedly stabbing his friend to death, Gauteng police said on Monday.

The man would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder, Constable Sibusiso Chauke said.

The two men were at a shebeen in Meadowlands, Zone Five, when they began arguing on Saturday around 2am.

The 34-year-old allegedly stabbed his 30-year-old friend, who died on the scene.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect fled and hid in Orlando West,” Chauke said.
