Cape Town - Fifteen-year-old Ntobeko Gogo told his mother he was going to a friend’s house on Friday night - hours later he was dead.
Ntobeko was found beaten and stabbed to death in Delft.
Police spokesman Captain Thembinkosi Kinana said two teenagers had since been arrested in connection with his murder.
“A 15-year-old boy was murdered during the night, beaten and stabbed until he died. Two 18-year-old suspects were arrested and a murder case is being investigated,” Kinana said.
The two are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court this week.
Zoleka Gogo, Ntobeko’s mom, said she had scolded him on Friday afternoon because he had not washed the dishes.
“When I arrived home, I shouted at him because he didn’t wash the dishes and I wanted to cook.
“He said that there wasn’t any water that’s why he hadn’t done the dishes.”
Gogo said her son later went to buy paraffin and afterwards told her that he was going to visit a friend.
“He has a lot of friends. After he left, I went to the shop to buy yoghurt for the baby before 7pm.
“When I arrived back, his friend came to ask for Ntobeko and I told him to go look for him.”
Shortly after, she heard a commotion outside her house.
“I was home for probably two minutes when a woman came knocking on my door to say someone had died and something had happened.
“I ran out of my house and went looking for my son and then I found one of his friends, but he wouldn’t look me in the eye.”
The distraught mom said when she arrived at the scene she started to cry.
“I could feel that something was wrong and that it was him.”
She identified the body.
“He was such a good child,” she said.
