Johannesburg -

A disabled man was caught with 1205g of cocaine hidden in his suitcase at OR Tambo International Airport, in Kempton Park, on Tuesday, the Hawks said.

The 46-year-old, wheelchair-bound man was arrested in a sting carried out minutes after he arrived in the country from Dubai at 10.30am, said Hawks spokesman Paul Ramaloko.

He said two packets of cocaine were found in the back pockets of each of nine pairs of jeans in the man's suitcase. The cocaine was worth an estimated R350 000 on the street.

“The man is a regular traveller and he is believed to be part of a bigger syndicate with international links dealing in drugs,” said Ramaloko.

He would appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
