Johannesburg - Two drug laboratories were discovered in Johannesburg on Thursday evening, said police.

Captain Paul Ramaloko said a 36-year-old water technician was arrested in a raid in Randburg.

“We found a total of 42 500ml containers. Each of them had a liquid that was used to produce the drug known as ‘magic mushroom’,” said Ramaloko.

The liquid was worth about R30-million on the street, he said.

The man was expected to appear soon in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.

Ramaloko said three foreigners were arrested in a second raid on a house in Roodepoort.

He said a Nigerian couple and a Tanzanian man were found in possession of chromic acid, ephedrine, methcathinone and 500 litres of a liquid used to dilute drugs.

“The Nigerian couple have an eight-year-old daughter... We have taken her to a place of safety,” said Ramaloko.

The three would appear soon in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
