Cape Town - More than 200 suspects were arrested, and drugs worth about R2 million seized, during a series of operations by the South African Police Service’s Kuils River branch over the past week, Western Cape police said on Monday.

The 200 suspects were arrested on various charges, including dealing in drugs, drunken driving, murder, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping.

Police confiscated drugs including tik, dagga, and mandrax tablets during the blitz.

Another 34 suspects were arrested for crimes including disturbing the peace, riotous behaviour, and public drunkenness.

SAPS flying squad members arrested three suspects who were in possession of 2 385 mandrax tablets.

Kuils River Cluster Commander Brigadier Vincent Beaton congratulated SAPS members, neighbourhood watch structures, reservists, and the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police, law enforcement and traffic officers for their dedication and commitment in ensuring the perpetrators of crime were brought to justice.

Beaton encouraged the community to continue assisting the police in ridding their neighbourhoods of crime.
