INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPERS
More than 600 police officers have been arrested in Gauteng since April last year.
A Durban police officer was kidnapped while on his way to work on Friday morning, SABC news reported.
The 59-year-old lieutenant had left his home in Umlazi's W section, south of Durban, around 8am, when he was confronted at gunpoint and forced into a car.
His cellphone signal was traced to Dalton hostel, and then lost. Police searched the hostel, but found no sign of the officer.
“It is still unknown who these thugs are and what could have been their motive... We have launched a full-scale police investigation,” police spokesman Lt-Col Vincent Mdunge told the broadcaster. - Sapa
