Durban - A man convicted of raping six women was handed six terms of life imprisonment in the Durban Regional Court on Thursday.

Aubrey Ndadane was also handed a further 15 years imprisonment for robbing five of his victims of their cell phones.

Magistrate Wendolyn Robinson said she could find no compelling or substantive reasons to deviate from handing the father of two six life terms.

The 41-year old who held his head in his hands as Robinson handed down her sentence, had robbed and raped the six women after luring them under the pretence of offering them employment.

After raping them, he instructed each of his victims to wash themselves with the water from a bottle that he carried with him.

The attacks happened in Calirwood, Wentworth and Montclair – all suburbs in the south of Durban.

Last week Ndadane cried in court as he pleaded guilty to the crimes that he committed between January and May this year.

Robinson said he didn’t have sufficient remorse as he had only agreed to enter a guilty plea after investigators had revealed to him that cell phone records linked him to his victims.

She said that for a court to find compelling or substantial factors to warrant a reduced sentence, it needed to understand why the crimes had been committed.

“You do not have an explanation for embarking on this destructive action,” she said.

She described the attacks as being well planned and not at all opportunistic.

Referring to the victim impact statements, Robinson said: “Clearly these woman’s lives have been shattered in the worst possible way.”

One of the women suffered a miscarriage after being raped.

Robinson said the fact that Ndadane was a father of two minor children was not a reason to reduce his sentence.

“You are in no way a role model for your two minor children. You are in no way a role model for our future generations.”
